Automatically create and associate companies with contacts - Creating duplicates

Hi,

This is both a product request and a help request.

We need the "Automatically create and associate companies with contacts" feature enabled, but we only want the "associate" part. The "create" function is generating thousands of duplicates for us.

This feature needs to be split into two checkboxes, one for associating a contact with a company that has the same domain and another for creating a new company. This would allow us to choose which function to enable.

Has anyone found a workaround to bypass this issue?

For context, we offer a free trial through our app, which pushes a contact and company to HubSpot via an API. If the contact's email contains a domain, HubSpot creates a new company in addition to the one created by the app. With 2,000 trials per month, this results in a significant number of duplicates and a heavy manual merging workload for the sales team. As far as workarounds go, the new workflow asssocation action allow you to create associate two records based on a single-line text property. In this case, this could be the contact 'Email domain' and the company 'Company domain name'. This requires a Professional or Enterprise subscription. (Stricly speaking, what you're asking for is possible, permitting the right subscription level.)
