Automatic deal amount doesn't account discount

Hi all,

Just want to let you know that we experience an unwanted behaviour in the automated deal amount update proces.

We sell a product that exist out of different parts (so basically it's a package price). For stock keeping reasons we do add the individual products and than give a general discount on the quote to make up for the extra products.

When publishing the quote it updates the deal amount without discount. This is obviously not correct. Is there any way to prevent this, or make sure the deal amount is generated on the offer total instead of the individual line items?

Thanks.

Hi this is Pete

Yes one of the current limitations in how Deals and Quotes work, is that footer items on a Quote (Discount, Fee, Tax) are not represented on the deal when the quote is published. Only the Quote Line Items are cloned to the deal, but deals do not have the equivalent of footer items.

We are working on a "DoMargins" HubSpot plugin designed to address correctly valuing Deals, along with blended margin at the deal level but it is still in the design stage.

In the meantime, you can edit the global terms of the deal to apply a discount to all line items

Hi Paige,

We held DoMargins in backlog, as HubSpot were solving some of these deal/quote issues, but the problem you describe still exists today.

Do you have Operations Hub? We could quickly fix this for you with a couple of deal properties to hold the discounts and fees, plus custom-code to populate those properties and calculate the net Deal Amount.

Thanks all, changing the global terms before creating an quote seems the way to go for now.

Update: Unfortunately the global terms only work with a percentage.. and this is not always the same due to additional purchases.

@BérangèreL As Pete describes, we would like that the deal amount is connected to the quote amount (or not connected at all) (or asks whether you would like to change the deal amount).

Hi @Qwiek, I hope that you are well!

Thank you so much @HubDoPete for your help 🌟

At the moment, this is not possible.
I therefore recommend you to post this idea on our Ideas Forum here.

And I encourage you to share and upvote for the idea (this way it will have more chances to be implemented in the future), and follow the thread to receive the update status.

Thank you and have a good day!

Is there any update on the DoMargins or solution here? We are having the same problem, where our deal value isn't calculating properly and there is a misalignment between the deal value and any Quote/Invoice sent to the customer.

Hi @Qwiek, I hope that you are well!

I love reading your post, thank you!

I am not sure of which option you are looking for:

1. You want to have the discount apply on the whole quote

2. You want to have the discount apply to one one line item

I'd like to share these resources that might help you:

Understand discounts in HubSpot payments: which explains that when creating an invoice, payment link, or quote, you can include discounts for both individual line items and the order total, as well as enable discount codes
Create and manage products: you can add a discount value for your product from the line items editor.
- The solution from @Syeda_Fatima on this post "How do I make a discount code apply to a single-line item in a multiple-line order"

I'd like to invite some of our Top Experts to this conversation: @HubDoPete@Shadab_Khan and @Alex_Elborn: do you have any suggestions to help @Qwiek, please?

Also, if anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation 🙂

Thanks a lot ❤️ and have a wonderful day!

Best,
Bérangère
