Automatic creation and association of companies to contacts
SOLVE
I didn't set this up initially because all our clients are consumers and we did not want to add companies associated with their email addressess (most aren't company ones anyway).
But our contact database also contains many of our Partners that we communicate with and it would be handy to auto add their companies rather than having to do this manually.
If we were to now turn on auto create companies and opt to retro create, is there a way to opt out the consumers other than put in hundreds of different 'personal' email address domains in the opt out list. In other words, select all the people we want to auto create associated companies for rather than laboriously enter domains for all the consumers we don't?
When entering a contact, is there a way to decide if you want the company created or not in real time?
What type of email domain do your consumers have? It these are freemail, HubSpot wouldn't create company records for these, last I checked.
Generally, the system setting that you're referring to doesn't offer more nuance than what you've discovered already. It's on or off with manually maintained exclusions. It cannot be applied based on contact properties.
As far as workarounds go, Professional and Enterprise customers can create contact workflows that check for custom criteria and then use the 'Create record' workflow action to create companies. New contacts would have to be associated with the 'Create association' workflow action in a separate workflow, based on email domain / company domain name.
Best regards!
