Attachment in record view ?

SOLVE

Dear community,

We use attachments to store relevant deal info (signed docs etc.)

I can't figure out a way to see those attachments outside of the "right panel view", I was trying to get a card with attachment in the "view record page"

Anyone has a solution for that ? Thanks++

Hey @MDubuc

so for the moment there is no native way of doing this.

With custom card you can create a card in the right column that can display the document.

But if you have a lot of documents maybe you can think about a list of links to them?

Hope this helps

Hi @MDubuc ,

I'm happy to add my two cents here.

Unfortunately, there isn't a great way of visualising the attachments outside of the right hand column in records.

I did a bit of digging and there is a property that exists which gives you an attached file ID. However, unless you have a method of translating the file ID into something more tangible, I'm not really sure what it could be used for. Perhaps, you could use the unique file ID to trigger a workflow that would populate another property with a certain value or with a specific naming convention and that way, you could at least use this as a data source in a report. As it stands, with only the attached file ID, you'd be left with a report like this one:

Attached file ID.png

The other option, which might make things a little easier for you going forward, would be to use the Documents tool which offers a little more flexibility, but it all depends on what you're looking to do.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing Brian! I have searched high and low for the 'Attached File ID' field on Contact, Company and Deal objects to no avail. Can you share where/how you pulled this information?

Thank you so no good solution 😞

I guess I will use Notes attachments as a workaround but sad that the product team did not thing of a simple Card we can add on the deal record page, does not seem very complex and we like to keep our deal supporting files in one place.
