Associate multiple Companies to Deals

SOLVE

Hello,

My company is using an Enterprise subscriprion and I was requested to find a way to associate multiple Companies to some Deals, because sometimes in the deal there are involved 2 or more companies (partners).

I looked at this article here and I was asked to edit the currend company association, but when I try, it says that I can't.

I can't edit the company field to accept multiple companies because there are records already using it.

Do I have to create a new field and a new association to add  a "Secondary Company" to the deal?

Hi @MMangiaterra you won't be able to edit the primary association and it doesn't sound like that's really what you need to do, rather you need to create a new association so you can determine the relationship for the additional companies:

Hey @MMangiaterra

if you have Enterprise licenses I'd strongly suggest that you create Partners as a custom object and leave Companies for the client.
that way you have both objects associated with the deals and then have custom reports if you need to.

you can contact us if you need help setting this up.

hope this helps

Hey @MMangiaterra, thank you for reaching out to our Community!

I would recommend setting up a new custom field titled "Secondary Company" or a similar suitable name to capture additional company information associated with the deal.

If there are existing deals with multiple companies involved, you may need to migrate data from the current company field to the new "Secondary Company" field as per your business requirements.

I want to invite our top experts to share their thoughts, @Lucila-Andimol, @Jigar_Thakker @Jnix284 any recommendations for @MMangiaterra ?

Thank you,

Pam
