Add Employees to Deals

SOLVE

We are a consulting firm currently tracking our deals through HubSpot. Looking for a way to 'tag' an employee to a deal, so we can track which employees have been submitted for proposals/deals. Ideally, we would like to be able to add multiple employees so we can track who is being considered to work on each deal.

Add Employees to Deals

SOLVE

@NDukette

That makes sense to keep whoever is working the deal as the owner.

Yes it is possible! Just make sure the custom property is a multiple check box type.

This will allow you to:

  • enter all of your employees as a property field/option
  • choose multiple employees that will be working on projects/accounts
  • report on deal associations that is not dependent on the deal owner

To create this type of report:

  • create custom report for deals
  • add your custom property (typically deal stage and amount is already there)
  • in visualization choose a bar graph and display:
    • custom property
    • by count of deals

I find this to be the easier way to view this data. Then you can click into each bar graph to view which deals are attributed to that employee.

Let me know if you need to bounce any other ideas or you want to dig into this deeper!

Best,

Diana

Add Employees to Deals

SOLVE

Hi @NDukette

I have a couple of questions:

  1. are your employees bringing these deals in as an upsell/cross sell?
  2. are your employees working these deals themselves or do you have a sales team working on it separate from production?

The reason I ask is that for either scenario you could:

  1. assign the deal to whoever brought it in/who will be working on selling it and once the deal is in a certain stage assign to the production team member that will be responsible for the execution.
  2. create a custom deal property to ID the person that will execute the deal once won.

Then if you want to find a way to hack reporting to have insight on bandwidth:

  • create a custom report for deals
  • show deal amounts by custom property or by owner
  • then you can get even more granular to show it by deal stage as well so that you can see how long until a project will be on someone's plate.

Let me know if that's helpful.

Best,

Diana

Add Employees to Deals

SOLVE

Hi Diana,

Thanks so much for your help! Following up with answers to your questions -

The employees are executing the deals themselves. We are currently tracking the deal owner/who brings the deal in.

For the option to set up a custom deal property, would it be possible to list multiple employees in the field? And would the field be both reportable and searchable?

Thanks again! Very helpful.

Natalie
