Ad Blocker Blocks Chat on Website

I recently got the chat client all set up and working on my web site, or so I thought. One of my employees was testing it and he could not see the chat icon that should appear at the lower right corner of the window. We quickly traced it to the fact that he uses an ad blocker called Ublock Origin. When he turned that off and reloaded the page, the icon appeared as normal. Why would the blocker not recognize a chat client as a benign entity? Does Hubspot need to do something to appear kosher? Do I need to do something to register my domain somewhere (hopefully not for every ad blocker in existence!)?

Ad Blocker Blocks Chat on Website

Hi @BShockey ,

Ad blockers like uBlock Origin may block the chat client icon because they can perceive it as a third-party script associated with ads or tracking. To ensure the chat icon appears even when ad blockers are enabled, verify that the HubSpot tracking code is correctly installed on all web pages where the chat should appear. Hosting scripts on a recognized Content Delivery Network (CDN) can also help, as ad blockers often trust well-known sources.

Additionally, test the chat client with different ad blockers to identify specific issues and consider adding a notice for users, informing them that ad blockers might impact chat functionality and suggesting they temporarily disable the blocker if needed. Generally, you don’t need to register your domain with ad blockers for the HubSpot chat client to work. However, if the issue persists, ensure your website's scripts, including the chat client, are hosted in a way that doesn’t trigger ad blockers.
