Activity from contact not syncing to associated deal when using BCC to log emails

I use the bcc to log emails, they are all being synced to the contacts, but some are sometimes not getting added to the deal associated with the contact. And sometimes they are. I can have a deal that shows some emails and not others, but they'll all show in the contact.

Any ideas?

Activity from contact not syncing to associated deal when using BCC to log emails

Hi Mia

Thanks for getting back to me.

Ah yes it is because some of the deal stages are 'closed-won'. I've changed them to 90% but that now means that even though they should be classed as a customer at that point, they're not anymore. Which then means they are likely to get marketing emails for leads, not customers. I don't understand why the decision was made to set it up to not log any activity in the deal just because it has been won, that seems odd. What's the point of being able to have won stages in a pipeline if they stop offering any relevant information?

Activity from contact not syncing to associated deal when using BCC to log emails

I see, I'm glad that we were able to find an explanation. I understand that this is not optimal in your use case, but not logging activities on closed deals works well for customers who have many deals associated with one contact or company and prefer to only have essential information on the deal record.

It's still possible to associate activities with deals manually on the activity card.

Regarding the "Customer" classification: HubSpot will automatically update the contact's lifecycle stage to "Customer" once the deal's win probability reaches 100% (the deal is marked as won). You can read more about this function here. If the deal win probability is less than 100%, the lifecycle stage won't update. I can confirm that this is working as designed.

If you'd like to keep the Deal probability for the "Closed won" stage at 90%, you could add a custom automation to your "Closed won" stage that will update the contact's lifecycle stage to "Customer" (only available in premium subscriptions):

I hope this helps!

Activity from contact not syncing to associated deal when using BCC to log emails

Hi @BHesketh,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

If a call, one-to-one email, meeting, note, task, LinkedIn, SMS, or WhatsApp message is first logged on a contact record, it will be automatically associated with the contact’s primary company and the five most recent associated open deals (i.e., deals that are not in closed-won or closed-lost deal stages).

Could it be that the deals where the emails are not logging have already been moved to the closed stages?

Cheers
