How to use the Editor to edit the main fields.json?

For example, a module fields.json can be edit using the right UI editor:

But how to have the same capability for the global fields.json? This is the file located in root of the theme folder.

Hi @KospeKaspa typically the fields.json for the theme needs to be edited using the CLI instead of directly in the Design Manager because the file size is usually too large.

I've never been able to edit the fields.json directly - I'm also not sure if there is another reason for this, such as preventing a non-developer from breaking the theme by changing the fields required for the theme to function.
