Contact Object

SOLVE

I am looking for information on the contact object in hubspot and when it gets populated with data.  I am new to the forum so assistance would be greatly appreciated.  For example, if I am a receiver of several email campaigns over the course of a year, and / or I have used multiple forms, how is my activity captured in the contact object.  Does each activity overwrite the previous activity in the contact object so that the contact object is just a record of the last activity?  Basically, looking to track a contacts activity overtime and need to know if I have to build this tracking or if its captured within HS.  Thanks you!

Contact Object

SOLVE

Hi @SSmith852 - welcome to the forum!

When you click into a particular contact record, there is an "Activities" tab that is essentially a timeline of events associated with this contact.

Each event is its own entity and cannot be overwritten by another event. However, the data in the contact record can be overwritten with every event.

For example, if someone fills out a form for the first time with first name "Tim", that is the information that gets stored initially. In the future, if that same person (using the same email address) fills out another form using the first name "Timothy", then the contact record gets updated with that latest submission.

You can filter what kind of activities you would like to see when viewing the contact record. For example, you could select only to show "Form Submissions" and any other activity events would be hidden from the "Activities" timeline:

Then you can expand the details for each of the form submissions to see of what information has been updated during that submission

Hope this helps!
