Combining 2 themes

Hi

I need to create a new theme and apply it to a blog template. The existing articles (published on the old/current theme) have custom modules added in to the blog content.

My question is will those custom modules still persist when I apply the new theme and will the data that was added in to populate also persist?

Can you mix 2 themes I guess is the big question.

I understand that I would need to create new css to cater for the old theme modules.

Thanks!

Hey @DM2 it depends on the template you're switching to, if both templates have a drag and drop section the drag and drop section keeps the same modules (as long as they're available). The blog templates don't usually have drag and drop sections though, if the modules are coded into the template those modules and their content will be removed by changing the template.

Hey @DM2 you need to specifically define a dnd area within your template. Blog templates are a bit weird though so I can't say 100% if you have a dnd area in your old template and the new one if your modules will transfer. I'd recomend tesing it out first!

Thanks @TomM2 yes that makes sense with coded templates - presumably if I code in the module to the new template that will resolve that?

I noticed last time I was editing an article the ability to drag modules in to the main text content area (I don't recall HS having this functionality a while ago) - is that not drag and drop?
