CMS Migration from Wordpress to HubSpot - URLs no longer have trailing slash

Hi there

We are in the process of migrating our website from Wordpress to HubSpot CMS. Wordpress adds a trailing slash to the end of all URLs by default, my understanding is that HubSpot doesn't.

My question is whether there is a way for HubSpot's CMS to automatically add a trailing slash at the end of every URL?

If this isn't possible, then do we need to map every URL with a 301 redirect from the trailing slash version to the non-trailing slash version of the page as part of the migration process?

Thanks in advance!

CMS Migration from Wordpress to HubSpot - URLs no longer have trailing slash

Hi @AWilkinson3 ,

When doing a website migration, I normally recommend creating the pages in HubSpot using the same exact URL structure that you had before. That way, there would be no need for redirects. In this instance though, if we need to set up multiple redirects, the best option would be setting up a redirects import file, doing some excel manipulation, and then importing that redirect file to generate the redirects in bulk.

I also did some testing in my own portal and using my own website hosted on HubSpot, if I go to a page without a trailing slash, and then add one, it will automatically redirect me back to the non-trailing slash and no 404 page appears.

If you have additional questions about this, I would recommend reaching out to our Support team as well!

CMS Migration from Wordpress to HubSpot - URLs no longer have trailing slash

Hi

I totally agree it's best to keep the same URL structure. HubSpot are managing the migration for us and have implemented URLs without the trailing slash.

I wasn't sure if this is a limitation of Hubspot or whether that can be changed so the default is always to include a trailing slash? Can you confirm?

If it can't be changed and we have to use URLs without a trailing slash then I will bulk upload page to page redirects. It's something I wanted to avoid if possible!

Thanks

CMS Migration from Wordpress to HubSpot - URLs no longer have trailing slash

Hi @AWilkinson3 ,

I'm not aware of any setting to change that can make it default to have URLs with a slash. I found a similar community post as well that asks a similar question. If HubSpot did the migration, have you been in touch with the migrations specialist who was in charge of the migration?

Cheers,

CMS Migration from Wordpress to HubSpot - URLs no longer have trailing slash

Hi

Thanks for the information. I'll pick this up again with my
migration specialist. It sounds like we are going to have to move to a
non-trailing slash version so next steps are to work out how this will be
handled to ensure no loss in SEO performance.

Many thanks!
