Advanced Menu Image Issue

SOLVE

Hi,

We've recently had our templates created for website pages and our advanced menus include images alongside links - see www.sepscience.com

I want to change some of the links associated with the menu icons at the top of the page, but simply changing the URLs in the advanced menu settings results in the correct link but removal of the associated icon - see the 'Learning & Training' menu item to the far right.

Being pretty new to HubSpot, can anyone provide some help as to why this is happening and how to correct it. I don't see where the icons are associated.

Thanks,

David

Advanced Menu Image Issue

SOLVE

Hi David
Without rummaging around in your COS it's difficult to tell.

I assume, from your post, you tried this:

First place I would look is in the main (top) menu Content > Content Settings. Then choose Advanced Menus in the vertical menu on the left... Select the menu you want to edit... if you click on the Cog Icon (next to the menu item). Do you see any "parameters" or additional information?

Second place I would look is in the Design Manager. Content > Design Manager. This will give you access to the Templates.

**proceed with caution**

If you break something here you're in a world of pain.

So, this is where we would build custom functionality. You can look for a Custom Module with the custom menu code. I'm being a bit more vague here because it's hard to know where they put it and what it's called – the search field is your friend.

However, after all that – I'd go back to the people that built your templates and ask them to add/edit icons for you (unless you're comfortable rummaging around in the code). Also, if you go back to them ask them to add a "Fallback" icon so if no Icon is specified it goes to a generic icon.

Hope this helps

Mike

p.s. you have some issues with https vs. http on your site and some browsers may block your website(for me I see an error where Google Chrome blocks the site).Your menus point to https but your SSL isn't set up correctly. You will want to check the domain section in HubSpot Content > Content Settings > Domain Manager.

Advanced Menu Image Issue

SOLVE

Hi Mike,

Much appreciated - yes, I'd gone along the lines of your suggestions, but not being that familiar with the system I didn't want to cause any further issues making the matter worse. I'll go back to the original implementation team that set up the templates and ask for their help.

Thanks also for pointing out the https/http issue - we only just switched over to HubSpot COS yesterday - I have gone through the enabling SSL process and now have a new secure CNAME record which will be implemented.

Best regards,

David
