3XX error on Ahref. Resolution for www. subdomain to non www.

SOLVE

We had to 301 redirect www. to non www. domain to stop www. from showing 404 error

However, doing so is giving a Critical SEO warning in Ahref tool.  (see image below)

Not sure how to resolve this warning.

Hi @HypeDotStore

Have you tried using Google Search Console to confirm/change which version of your website (www vs. non-www) is indexed?

It sounds as though the URL you have redirected (www.domain) is indexed by Google and is receiving organic search traffic. It would be best not to redirect every organic visit to your website if possible.

Hope this helps.

Hi Phil,

I decided to wait and see if this changed.

After inspecting Google Search Console, the www. URL is not indexed by Google (but still getting traffic from some odd URLS)

However, the issue in Ahref showing this to be a critical issue still persists.

So ahref is crawling the URL, and Google is not.

Not sure who to trust, or if we are commiting SEO faux pas.
