I am hoping that someone can direct me on this, I have a client who is hosting their website via HubSpot and using a sub domain that ends in .ai. They are finding that some of their customers are blocking the site which they believe is due to the "risk of ai". They are trying to understand which system is blocking them and if there is a potential resolution. Someone on their internal team also indicated that since HubSpot is hosted in Canada they thought this may be issue but am not sure if it's related at all.
Could someone please weigh in if this has ever been seen before and if so, which actions were taken?
They are finding that some of their customers are blocking the site which they believe is due to the "risk of ai".
How exactly are they finding this? Is there a screenshot of a notice or message that they can share?
In terms of potential troubleshooting steps, I'd suggest the following, with the help of generative AI:
Test the Domain in Blocked Environments:
Check web filtering services: Tools like URLVoid, Google Safe Browsing, or VirusTotal can help assess whether the domain is being flagged or blocked by common security services.
Corporate Environments: Ask the customers who are blocking the site to check their web filtering settings (if possible) and confirm if the ".ai" domain is causing the block.
Contact Security Providers: If the domain is being blocked by a known security vendor, your client can contact them to request removal from any "AI-related" blocklists. Security companies like Cisco's OpenDNS, WebSense, and others may have domain-appeal processes in place.
SSL Certificates & Domain Security: Ensure that the HubSpot-hosted website has a valid SSL certificate and other necessary security measures. Sometimes, security systems block sites if SSL is not configured properly.
If these steps do not resolve the issue and if the ".ai" domain continues to cause substantial issues, your client could consider transitioning to a different top-level domain (TLD) that is less likely to be flagged, such as ".com" or ".net".
This situation isn't entirely unheard of, and a combination of factors like security filters, domain reputation, or hosting location may be contributing to the blocks. Working with the customers and web security services will help identify the exact cause and provide solutions.
Hope this helps!
