What happens when someone visits your landing page subdomain?

resolver

Hi!

We have successfully created the subdomain for our landing pages. When you create your first page, you must add the slug that will be added to that URL.

however, what happens if someone simply types landing.maindomain.com? Currently, they see a 404 error. Is there any way to redirect this to www.maindomain.com?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Dora

Ahh, I see you marked your post as "starter", redirects are only available with Pro and Ent subscriptions. You can also setup redirects via your domain provider. I use GoDaddy and the process is pretty much the same as it would be, doing it via HubSpot.

Hello,

It is possible to create a page on the root of your subdomain. Just don't put a "slug" in the parameters of the page 🙂

If your subdomain is to be referenced, it is indeed a bad indicator to have the root of the domain in 404. I would advise you to make a homepage that presents your company/site, or that list your contents etc... On that url if you can't do a redirect via Hubspot.

I hope I helped you!

Yes, I tried that, but it is not allowed. Does not let me publish, unfortunately.

Hi Dora

Setting up a redirect is the way to go.
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to host a landing page at the
"root" domain of landing.maindomain.com.
Using a re-direct means you can point visitors to a resource page or maybe
a seasonal campaign page?

HubSpot for example redirects to hubspot.com/resources when you try and
visit offers.hubspot.com.

Cheers
Frank

Thank you! I do not see the option for redirecting that root page. Where should I see this?

Hi @DMeleg

That's done in the domain / url settings of HubSpot, this KB article talks through it step-by-step . It can take a few hours for the redirect to happen, so don't panic if it doesn't happen immediately.
