Hi,

I first ceated my webpage and linked a GoDaddy domain, it worked at first except the homepage that appeared was not a page I created anywhere. But all of my links worked, but the greeting page was not something I made. It had my heading and footer but the blank template for the blog in the middle. I could not find this webpage anywhere in my account or I would have just copied my homepage content to it and been done.

I decided I would unlink my domain entirely, delete my homepage and start over. Now my homepage with my base domain name linked to it, it says the page is published but anytime I try to update it says the domain is already in use, even though it is not linked to a page in my account except for one and for two days when I type in the URL it says page not found, even though in my account it says the domain is linked and functional.

Hi @JPreville,

It sounds like you didn't have a page actually set as your home page.

@JPreville it's not the blog post that you would need to delete, it's the blog itself (the blog listing page would be the blank page because you hadn't set a template other than the default yet).

You can either delete the full blog or change the slug, it's in Content > Blog > blog slug in the settings - either delete blog from the options menu or add the blog slug as shown here:

Hi @JPreville the page you're describing was most likely a blog listing page because the blog slug was blank and using the root domain.

1 - check Settings > Content > Blog > Blog Slug shouldn't be blank, add "blog" or something else there

2 - check Settings > Content > Domains & URLs > Language Settings tab and make sure you've set the language, but that the toggles are off (unless you have a mulit-language site, then we'll talk more)

3 - open your Home page in the editor via Content > Website Pages > choose your page, then open Settings and make sure the page slug is blank and that the language is also blank here (as long as you set your language globally in step 2, you don't need it for each page individually unless you are doing multi-language)

4 - unpublish your home page, wait a few minutes, then republish it (with the blank slug)

If that doesn't work, you can force the server to reset by adding something new, like "jennifer-rocks" to the language slug - wait to verify that the page loads, then unpublish, change back to blank, and publish again.

Hi Jnix284,

I really thought you were onto something with the Blog and that sort of setting itself up as the homepage becuase nothing else was in the domain. I deleted the blog page and I have disconnected my domain so that I can sort of start over and now when I go to the hubspot created domain, it brings me to the same homepage that is not a page anywhere in my account. I would love to just locate this page so I can put my homepage material on it and be done but it is not a page listed in my webpages or landing pages.

I did have a page that had nothing in the slug and should have been the homepage. I think the route of my problem is when I first linked the domain, I didn't have a page with nothing in the slug. Hubspot "created" me a homepage but the actual page appears nowhere in my account so I can update to have my homepage content on it nor can I delete to change the url of my prepared homepage.

I just unpublished every page I have and unconnected my domain so that I can start over from scratch. Ironically when I go to a URL of one of my unpublished pages, my heading appears with my logo and a 404 error but it has a link to go to "homepage". When I go to the homepage I am brought back to this generic homepage I did not create and is not a page anywhere in my account but is somehow set as my homepage.
