Unable to add authors to sitemap

SOLVE

Hi!

I’d like to include my blog authors in the sitemap, but they aren’t automatically added to the generated sitemap. I also can’t add them manually in the sitemap settings, since the author pages don’t appear in the dropdown list. Is there any way to make this possible?

Thanks in advance!

Unable to add authors to sitemap

SOLVE

HubSpot’s auto-generated sitemap only includes supported content types (e.g., website pages, landing pages, blog posts). System-generated author listing pages aren’t included and can’t be added from the sitemap UI, so they won’t appear in the dropdown.

Workarounds:
1) Create dedicated author profile pages as standard website pages (one per author). Publish them and include them in your sitemap via Settings > Website > Domains & URLs > SEO & Crawlers > Sitemaps.

2) Create a supplemental XML sitemap for author listing URLs. Host it in Files (Marketing > Files and Templates > Files), then reference it in robots.txt (Settings > Website > Domains & URLs > SEO & Crawlers > Robots.txt) by adding another “Sitemap: https://yourdomain.com/path-to-authors-sitemap.xml” line.

You can also submit that supplemental sitemap directly in Google Search Console.

Note: Many themes/templates set author/tag listing pages to noindex by design to avoid thin/duplicate content. If you choose to surface them, ensure each page has unique, valuable content (bio, links, schema) to justify indexing.
