The Overlooked UI Details That Can Make or Break Mobile Optimization

SOLVE

Hey HubSpot Community,

We all know mobile optimization is essential, but sometimes the smallest UI details have the biggest impact on user experience. One common issue is misaligned or cramped content elements, especially in areas like usernames, buttons, and reply sections on discussion platforms.

For example, when content isn’t properly adjusted for mobile screens, we often see:

  • Text overflow – Usernames or button labels getting cut off.
  • Cramped spacing – Making elements harder to read or interact with.
  • Inconsistent sizing – Backgrounds not properly accommodating their text.

How can we fix this?

  1. Adjust font sizes dynamically using relative units (like em or rem instead of fixed pixels).
  2. Use flexible containers to allow elements to resize properly within their backgrounds.
  3. Optimize spacing and padding to maintain a clean and balanced look on all screen sizes.

What other subtle UI details do you think can make or break a mobile experience? Let’s discuss best practices and solutions. Looking forward to your insights.

The Overlooked UI Details That Can Make or Break Mobile Optimization

Great prompt @PascalAgbley - and thanks for the tag @PamCotton 😊

I thiknk one of the biggest misses right now is the lack of testing for dark mode. I know personally, I'll see emails that weren't tested and when they show in my email, which is set fir dark mode, logos look bad, background colors in marketing email sections look darker compared to image colors, and the text color is off.

I think it's obvious folks aren't testing - or don't care. That's my most glaring best practice not being followed. It's also why I love the testing powers we have in HubSpot!
