Signing up for a newsletter

What is the best way have people sign up for our newsletter via the website? Do I use a landing page? Or a form liked to a button on the a sign up page? Or the form in the footer? Or is there a better way?

These are my suggestions in order of personal preference:

1. Embedded Form: Place signup forms in sidebar, footer, or within content.
   
2. Popup/Modal: Use popups to capture attention without disrupting user experience.
3. Landing Page: Create a dedicated page highlighting newsletter benefits with a signup form

So, what is the best thing to do with the module that's in the footer? Do I delete the module and then start from scratch? Or?

The module in the footer seems OK as well! I would combine it with a form in the content as well so users don't need to scroll to the bottom to be able to subscribe.

When someone signs up using that module as it is now, will it only caputre the email address? 

When I add all of the other things such as first name, last name, etc, it all shows up in that space and just looks bad, but is that what has tp happen?

Also - How do I combine it with a form in the content?
