Replaced files not being reflected on landing page

SOLVE

Hello,

i created a landing page with links to resources and published it. The resources are stored in Marketing Files. After publishing, I needed to update/replace the files/resources which I did through the Marketing Files portal. When I preview/open the file through Marketing Files, it shows the updated file. But my landing page is still linking to the old files which shouldn't exist because I've replaced them. What might the issue be?

@ScottPennwood @karstenkoehler it looks like when I set the link on the landing page as "external" instead of "file" and manually input the file URL, it works. It's linking to the updated version. So this is something with the linking logic/manager within Pages, which is a bit of a nuisance. I'm not sure if this is a good enough solution, I'm hoping it doesn't lead to other issues down the road.

Hey @Linah4,

I've experienced this before, and we put it down to HubSpot-side cache.

See if re-publishing the page will fix it.

If not, easiest workaround is to rename the new file when you upload it.

Thank you! This is super frustrating, the whole reason I chose to host these on HubSpot was for the easy file replace without having to change the URL. Do you know if this will happen everytime I need to update the files?

Hi @Linah4,

This might be a cache issue. Have you waited a moment, them opened the page in a private tab?

If yes and if it's still not working, could you confirm that you're able to access the updated file in the file manager (I assume that's what you mean when you say marketing files?) and that the landing page is definitely referencing the correct file - can you remove it from the page and re-add it?

Best regards

Hi there, thanks for your response!

i have tried clearing my

cache and even asked friends to download on their own devices who have never been on the site previously. Its so bizarre!

yes, I replaced the file through the file manager and am linking directly to the file on the landing page. I have removed the links and relinked but its still downloading the old files. Its beyond frustrating!

@Linah4 have you ruled out that you're accidentally picking a similarly named but different file?

If so, this seems to be a bug. If it's the only place where the file is in use, I'd recommend simply uploading it anew and using the new link.

@karstenkoehler, the files are named the same as I don't want the individual URLs to change everytime I update them, I want to be able to create snippets for each help file that users can simply link to when emailing clients. Is this not possible?
