Link to Email Subscription Preferences page outside of email.

Résolue

I have a customer that wishes to create a navigation menu link directly from their website to the email subscription preferences page, so their contacts can manage their preferences from the site. Outside of emails, I can find no way to generate this link, not in Forms, CTAs, Buttons, or Landing Pages.

Are there any development requests or roadmaps actively pursuing this, and if not - does anyone have a workaround they could suggest?

Best,

DL

Given the updates to Google and Yahoo expected in February, I think this link is becoming a lot more important.

Email
In this article from HubSpot, step two says "Sends from connected email accounts do not automatically include unsubscribe links. To ensure you meet the upcoming requirements, follow this guide to add unsubscribe links to your 1:1 emails.", however there is no way to link to this information in Outlook emails or from emails sent out of other systems. In our usecase, we are also have a system called an ATS where recruiters may send emails similar to a CRM. We send very few 'marketing emails', but our team of 400 recruiters does send a ton of emails. In order to be compliant, those subscriptions need to be accessible from platforms other than HubSpot.

SMS
In addition to email, new demands from carriers are pushing toward tracking opt-in/opt-out status of contacts for SMS. Again, our primary senders are not marketing, but rather a sales team, who is very activity driven. Right now, this means linking to a completely separate page and the running workflows or other processes to close the loop. It feels a fairly disjointed and backwards.

As the system companies are running their communications, I think HubSpot is being looked to for a solution for unified subscription management, however it is only currently equipped to handle traditional marketing workstreams.

Hi - this one's been around since June 2020 but I hope you find some time to consider. There is currently no good way to send a customer to their subscription preferences page other than the email footer.

Any workaround we found or were recommended by hubspot support is problematic in that it requires the user to first submit his email before getting access to his preferences or presents him with a form where subscriptions they have already subscribed to appear as unchecked checkboxes.

GDPR stipulates that a users preferences must be clearly displayed and submitting unchecked checkboxes which then do not unsubscribe you, in our opinion, are misleading.

The subscriptions preferences page actually fulfils the purpose it was designed for perfectly, we "just" need a personalised token to give access to this page either via an email or on a page (in our case an email would be sufficient).

Thanks in advance.

Hi @davcrislin ,

The other option is to set up a preference center on a HubSpot landing page which you include in the navigation.
You can make a form and add the subscription types to the form.
However, this doesn't sync with the contacts history, so might not be the ideal option for you.

Kind regards,

The only workaround is through the API.  The links that are in emails are tied to email addresses, so there is not a process for an anonymous, or logged in/tracked contact, to manage their subscriptions. So you could query the contact, assuming they are tracked, and make a dynamic page online where they can manage subscriptions.

Alternatively, you could trigger the manage subscriptions via an email and give someone a generic email with a link to manage their subscriptions, assuming they are subscribed.
