Hubspot creates contacts for blog commenters before moderator approval

Regular Contributor

I have a blog with comments and comment moderation enabled. Up until a few months ago, Hubspot would create a contact in the CRM with the email address submitted on the comments form only AFTER the blog moderator approved the comment. If the moderator deleted the comment or marked it as spam, Hubspot didn't create a contact from said comment.

Hubspot has recently started creating contacts from blog comments before moderator approval. The result is that we have to go back and delete contacts created from comments we don't approve, despite the instructions on Hubspot's blog here:

https://knowledge.hubspot.com/blog-user-guide-v2/how-to-configure-your-blogs-comment-options.

Any one else have this problem or know of a solution?

You can try to create a smart rule with a workflow to send those contacts to a specific list you check on a certain basis.

This could be a solution without getting into the code/settings.

Hope it helps!
