How to have default logo for website shortcut on iPhone

SOLVE

How can we have our logo be the default icon when anyone adds the shortcut of our website homepage (www.smeds.org) to their iPhone? Right now, the default icon is a grey box with a white "S" on it. Can you help me or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

How to have default logo for website shortcut on iPhone

SOLVE

Hi @MMurphy8 ,

You're likely looking for the apple-touch-icon which needs to be defined in your site's HTML per Apple's documentation here and this thread on Stackoverflow here. You'll need to adjust your site's code within HubSpot assuming your site is hosted on HubSpo;t to pass this information through.

I'd recommend editing the base.html file of whichever theme you're using to pass this particular information along in the HTML of all your pages using this same theme.

@STierney might be able to assist further here although I supsect the next step would be to reach out to HubSpot Support afresh, perhaps via their chat or phone channels to get direct live assistance on this.

The most I can do from my end is lay out the steps based on the website you shared above:

  1. Navigate to the base HTML file: https://app.hubspot.com/design-manager/21517427/modules/84138712844
  2. Find the section containing the <head> code (reference the screenshot below)
  3. Add the code below (I've used the logo from the page you linked)
  4. Hit publish

Screenshot for step 2

Code for step 3

<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="114x114" href="https://www.smeds.org/hubfs/raw_assets/public/SMEDS_Theme_2022/images/logos/smeds-logo.svg">

As mentioned previously, this will apply to all pages using this theme going forward so any shortcut you create on iPhone should pull the same logo through. I can't guarantee a HubSpot employee will be able to help you implement this however but those steps should make things easier for you!

Hey @MMurphy8 - thanks for posting in the Community!

To clarify what you're asking here, could you please provide some screenshots of what you currently see in this process to identify possible next steps? I'm not sure I'm completely clear on where you're seeing the grey box with the white "S" on it.

Hey Shane, below are two screenshots. The first screenshot shows what it looks like when I'm making www.smeds.org a shortcut on my homescreen on my iPhone. The second screenshot shows what the shortcut looks like on my homescreen with the grey box and white "S". We want to have our logo appear there.

This is good news that it can be done and thank you for this response! I did not get this information when I reached out to HubSpot tech support. Can you please put me in touch with someone on the HubSpot team who can assist me set this up correctly for our HubSpot hosted website (www.smeds.org)? I don't want to mess it up, so I would prefer to do this WITH a HubSpot employee. Thank you!
