How to Architect Your Site: Summary


Hi one more time from Kate! This is Part Four of a series on using website pages, landing pages, and blog posts together to create a dynamic website. If you missed Parts One, Two or Three, you can find them here.


Website pages establish your business’ core services, who you are and what you offer. They are the foundation of your Internet presence. Landing pages provide a route to offer contacts valuable content in exchange for their freely-given information. Blog pages are where you project your business’ voice in order to build authority, and also where you create shareable articles that can develop visibility for your brand.


Let’s compare technical aspects for each type, as each type is not necessarily interchangeable.


Your pages, your subdomains


  • If you have Marketing Basic, you can host each type on the same subdomain. If you have Marketing Professional or Enterprise, you can host each type on their own subdomain.
  • You can have multiple blogs at any subscription level. In Marketing Basic and Professional, blogs can be distinguished by adding subdirectories. If you have Marketing Enterprise, you can host each blog on different subdomains or subdirectories.

How to connect your pages to each other and to visitors


  • Website pages are generally all connected to each other, as they form the core of your business’ Internet presence.
  • Landing pages, on the other hand, can be connected to your main website or be free-standing, in which case they can be accessible through direct links or CTAs. These direct links or CTAs can be added to all sorts of content, including emails and even your external pages that are not hosted in HubSpot.
  • Blog pages are a unique library of articles appended to your website. You can set up email notification lists so that when posts are published, subscribers receive a notification of latest posts at instant, daily, weekly, and monthly intervals.

Designing your pages


  • You can use multiple templates for website and landing pages depending on what modules and content you want to display on each individual page. However, each blog uses one template. This limits the amount of template-level customization you can do for individual blog posts, but promotes overall style uniformity for your blog.

Analyzing your pages


  • HubSpot gathers analytics on all of your pages in an aggregated way, as well as for each individual page. We surface that information in the individual sections for each tool, in Marketing Dashboard widgets, as well as in your Traffic Analytics report.
