Dependent dropdown not keeping styling when displayed

SOLVE

We have a depedent State dropdown that is set up to only have values if the Country is United States or Canada.

but when displayed on a form, all the provinces are visible when you select US:

Has anyone else seen this?

Hi @NVankerk 

 

The above conditional options setting only applies when someone manually enters data in the CRM, these rules are not mirrored on forms.

That seems counterintuitive - how do you manage this in forms then, is there a best practice?  I suppose you can create 2 dropdowns, CA Provinces and US States and show/hide them based on Country, but if we are syncing the State to Salesforce, do we then have to use a workflow to put the selected province or state into a separate text field and sync that field?  What if we update the state value in Salesforce - if the field is synced to the separate text field then the relevant dropdown is now out of date.   This seems overly complicated, but maybe there is a better way someone can suggest.
