Clear steps to redirect my current website to Hubspot website

Hi.  I am boutique SI shop who has an existing site in Concrete 5 and thinking of moving my site while also updating to Hubspot. What I am looking for, and not seeing clear instructions for HubSpot, is how to do this.

I would assume the steps to be somewhat like this:

  1. Create my new site in hubspot site builder using what should be some kind of abstracted domain URL provided by Hubspot.

  2. Somehow have hubspot take control  of my website domain without losing control of my email which is locked to Office 365 for business.

  3. Originally domain was with GoDaddy, but I use inmotion hosting and that is where I control things like CNAME etc.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions which would help?

Thanks !!

While helpful, I do not see this as clear steps so I do not see this as an approved solution. Not sure who marked it as that, but I am still not seeing the clear path. Clearer, but not clear. The biggest issue is how to get just the HTTP traffic to redirect and not the Mail traffic.

Clear steps to redirect my current website to Hubspot website

Hi @duselton

The process to set up your domain in HubSpot is easy to follow:

Settings (cog top right) > Websites (bottom left) > Domains and URLs (sub menu) > Connect a Domain (orange button).

You will be stepped through some options. You want to set up your Primary Domain for your Website (greyed out in this screenshot but you should be able to select it).

More information, including preparation before you start, in HubSpot's Knowledge Base.

Clear steps to redirect my current website to Hubspot website

Hi @duselton

Your steps look sensible to me, here's a couple of additions:

  1. Keep your URLs the same on your new site, as they are on the old site, to maintain any links pointing to your pages. For example, if your contact page is www.yoursite.com/contact-us keep the page URL the same "contact-us" in HubSpot to minimise any SEO drops.

  2. Add redirects in GoDaddy (Pro users can add Redirects in HubSpot) for any pages you aren't carrying over so that links to your site don't break.

  3. Set up Search Console (if you haven't already) so you can keep an eye on any issues in Google finds.

  4. Your email settings are set up with MX Records, your A Records (and CNAMEs if you don't use www) point to your website. Here are the recommended DNS Settings for Outlook if you want to double check.

  5. Add an SPF Record in your domain if you intend on sending emails from HubSpot.

  6. Add your sitemap to Google Search Console to speed up indexing. HubSpot will automatically create the sitemap for you at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml (it's human readable to take a look before you send it).

Hopefully other people can add some more tips.

Have fun

Mike
