The references @TiphaineCuisset are great. Here are a few of my top things to consider:
Is the value of the "offer" clearly stated high on the landing page?
Are the form fields relevant to the offer?
Use visuals to make an impact...video is better.
Also, we find it helpful to create the thank you page first, then the landing page. Obviously, that isn't required, but it tends to be more efficient for us.
