Automatically generated meta-title for tags and authors.

Hi,

is there a way to change the way of how the meta-title is built? Currently, the formula looks like that:

Blog page title | tag/author

Is there a way to reverse it so it looks like that?

tag/author | Blog page title

Hi @BCzerniakowski,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

While it is possible to set a unique HTML title for Blog posts (read more here), you currently can't change how meta titles are named: BLOG TITLE | TAG NAME.

You could build a custom coded template, where the <title> tags can be manipulated. One thing to keep in mind: the domain settings will render beneath our default meta tags, which means that Google and other search engines would likely still pull the blog listing meta tag instead of the custom tag.

I would like to encourage you to post this as a feature idea in our Ideas Forum so it can get visibility from other HubSpot users and our product team. You can check the Ideas Forum Users' Guide here

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Mia

Hi @BCzerniakowski ,

You cannot reverse the blog page title with tag/author as it is done from the backend. It will be managed from HubSpot. But yes, you can change the blog page title by updating the blog settings. Just click on blog> settings> customize blog page title.

Although Google does not always display the content that the creator has proposed, sometimes it can be generated automatically through the content of the page if they value that those generated by the user are not of enough "quality" or are not related to the user's query.

Best Practice

  1. Keep it concise. Meta tags checker, titles, and need to be short but sweet – Google typically displays the first 50–60 characters of a title tag. ...
  2. Include the focus keyword. ...
  3. Include a call-to-action. ...
  4. Match the title & description to your content. ...
  5. Make sure they're unique.

Thanks for your replies 🙂

I can't see the reasoning for that structure, but guess I'll just have to come up with a shorter blog title, so the tag/author fits into 70 characters and be visible in search results.
