With a week of firsts at INBOUND 2022, I’m fortunate to have attended this incredible event. Leading up to the event, I prepared goals, sessions to attend, and things I had to do/see in Boston. I thoroughly enjoyed the city’s vibes, scenery, and restaurants.
No matter where I’m going, I love checking out new restaurants, including any owned by chefs who have been on Food Network or any other cooking show/competition. I booked a reservation at Sweet Cheeks Q, which was worth the hype and experience.
But back to my INBOUND experience, there were so many great nuggets of information, but here are three of my biggest takeaways as a marketing professional and manager at a full-service agency.
Connecting customers
The opening keynote from the HubSpot Executive Team was the right start to the entire event. From seeing and recognizing how companies have been overloaded with information and work to presenting new features to help eliminate frustrations, it was more than what I needed to feel even more empowered with the tool. I’m watching out for those releases to see how we can grow our marketing strategies and management efforts.
“Delivering the Present, Optimizing for the Future”
During the “What’s Next: Building an Organization to Fuel the Flywheel” session with Atlassian on Day 2, their team discussed how they use the flywheel for this organization, and this quote stood out to me, “Delivering the Present, Optimizing for the Future.”
It seems simple, but it’s critical to present your best work while thinking and planning long-term for various marketing campaign efforts and maximizing the client’s ROI. I’m using this quote as a foundational element as I manage moving forward for my marketing team.
Networking & Advocating
With over 40,000 attendees, it was great meeting fellow marketers, HubSpot employees, BMAA and Black@INBOUND members, and everyone else in between.
And how could I not include the incredible activation at the Black@INBOUND space?! With so many sessions and networking opportunities, I learned so much during the sessions, especially the Boss Moves talks with LinkedIn. Though I’ve been creating a daily gratitude list, I will expand that into a Wins list for personal and professional items. You have to celebrate yourself FIRST, don’t wait for your job, manager(s), coworkers, etc., to validate yourself.
How I’m Applying It At Work
This week, I presented my experience to management and coworkers at my full-time job, and the goal is to take the new aspects happening with HubSpot and the Solutions Partner side of things and craft our strategy for 2023.
The agency I work for is almost a year in as a HubSpot Solutions Partner, and we see nothing but extraordinary opportunities ahead — it’s about strategy and execution to focus on our goals forward.
Looking Forward to What’s Next
Again, I’m so grateful and fortunate to have attended my first INBOUND event, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for next year’s event. A HUGE thank you to the Black@INBOUND for all your work and efforts for our fantastic community.
