[Closed] AMA - Google/Yahoo Authorization (February, 26 - March 1, 2024)
Hi HubSpot Community,
My name is Anissa! I am a Product Marketing Manager here at HubSpot. Google and Yahoo have recently introduced significant policy changes, which will be mandatory for senders starting in February 2024. You can read more about these changes along with some guidelines and best practiceshere.
Our AMA will be open for questions from Monday, February 26th to Friday, March 1st. All questions will be answered by Friday, March 1st. Drop your questions regarding HubSpot Google/Yahoo Authorization in this thread and we'll answer them!
Not sure what to ask? Here are a few sample questions:
What exactly is changing with the Google/Yahoo Authentication process?
Do these changes have any implications on the data or functionality I can access through HubSpot with my Google/Yahoo accounts?
Will HubSpot provide any support or guidance during the transition to the new authorization process?
Are there any specific timelines or deadlines I should be aware of in relation to these changes?
Look forward to chatting with you in the thread and hearing all of your questions!
Is there any data on the impact of the one-click unsubscribe requirements? Could you provide any insight on whether there has been a rise in opt-out rates for HubSpot users?
Once a HubSpot account has made the necessary changes to its SPF record, is there a specific waiting period before sending the first set of marketing emails after implementing the new sender requirements?
1) We can’t provide specific data on our customer’s opt out rates, but you may see a small spike in unsubscribes with the new one click option. That said, it’s important to remember that an unsubscribe is not necessarily negative. Many recipients who cannot find an unsubscribe button end up reporting email as spam so the goal of this new feature is to help our senders get the appropriate feedback from their recipients.
2) As soon as your ESD is fully connected you can send email with that domain!
Our envelope return path domains all have SPF configured and for the time being this should be sufficient. The reason we also recommend configuring SPF on the friendlyFrom domain is because it adds an extra layer of security and we are anticipating stricter requirements to come in the future. TL;dr- it's not required but recommend in the event that future restrictions come on board!

Greetings and thanks for giving opportunity to ask questions:
I would like to know how to solve my issues in my account.
-While setting up ads, my account mentioned: "some features got blocked".
-My DNS shows error with my web host platform integration.
- I am starting my business from scratch, and which to use 100% any free features and make money from my business from which I will use to upgrade to payment. I need help using.

Hi @ajacks228 Thanks for the AMA and opportunity to ask questions, I hope it's ok if I add mine now, happy to wait until next week for answers 🙂
HubSpot is now recommending adding an SPF record via the email sending domain configuration steps, but the envelope sender is from hubspotemail.net which creates a mismatch with the brand's domain (not hubspotemail.net) and causes DMARC to fail.
I learned that the SPF record isn't needed when sending from HubSpot (even though you've always been able to copy the record needed) and that configuring DKIM and DMARC are sufficient.
I've run numerous tests with https://www.learndmarc.com/ to confirm that configuring the SPF record following HubSpot's instructions is actually worse than omitting it completely.
Can you provide clarity around why HubSpot is advising an SPF record to be set?
If my reply answered your question please mark it as a solution to make it easier for others to find.
