[Closed AMA] Ask us anything about HubSpot's new product look and feel | September 8-12, 2025

AMA Banner 2 (1).png

Curious about the visual changes in HubSpot's product? We know that a visual refresh can feel like a big shift, that's why we're creating a space for open conversation, transparency, and support to help you understand what's changing and why.

Join us for an Ask Me Anything (AMA) event from September 8–12 where Hayley Hughes, Product Design Director, and members of her design systems team will be on hand to answer your questions about the updated look and feel of our product.

You can try the new visual theme by opening your Account menu in HubSpot’s top navigation and selecting the “Switch to the new theme” link. Try using it for a few days so you can tell us how the new look and feel changes your product experience.

Learn more about HubSpot's new product look and feel from Mike Holzer, Head of UX and Executive VP at HubSpot.

This AMA is your chance to:

  • Get your questions answered directly by the people designing these changes
  • Understand the reasoning behind our design decisions
  • Learn about what's staying the same and what's evolving
  • Share your feedback and concerns with our design team
  • Discover the latest accessibility improvements and what’s coming next

We’ll discuss:

  • Why we’re making these changes and how you’ll benefit from them
  • What, specifically, is changing visually in the product and why
  • Our goals for these changes, such as improving accessibility
  • We’d especially like to hear your feedback! What’s working well for you and what’s not?

Drop your questions in the comments below and we'll get back to you between September 8–12. We're excited to connect with you and help you make the most of HubSpot's visual refresh.

The updated HubSpot interface evokes a outdated aesthetic reminiscent of 1990s web design. While I recognize that these modifications align with evolving standards, the overall visual style contributes to a perception of the tool as outdated.

Maybe consider the addition of a customization feature that enables users to apply their company's branding to the HubSpot interface.

Hi @AliE1587, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We hear your perspective on the style and your idea about more customization is very helpful. This is just the start of our journey and over time, we’ll explore customization options.

Thanks for organizing this AMA! The refreshed product design looks clean and modern. I’m particularly interested in:

  1. Accessibility improvements – could you share some of the specific enhancements you’ve made to ensure a smoother experience for users with assistive technologies?

  2. Consistency across tools – how are you ensuring that the new visual system is cohesive across all HubSpot products, especially for teams that use multiple hubs daily?

  3. User feedback loop – will there be an ongoing channel for users to share thoughts on the design changes after this AMA, or is this mainly a one-time discussion?

Excited to see how these updates will improve usability and long-term adoption!

Hey @vikram_singh - regarding user feedback, you can always provide that! For this change specifically, when you opt into it, you will see an option to leave feedback. We're activately monitoring that and will continue to do so.

Cheers,
Maggie

For those who struggle a lot with the changes, do you think that it is possible to let them keep the old Design? For example, i would not switch i would keep the old theme.

Hi @A_WessollyThank you for sharing this with us. We’ve kept the classic theme available for now so you can switch back if it works better for you. Over time, though, we’ll be focusing more on the refreshed theme so that we can keep improving accessibility, consistency, and customization options like dark mode.

What parts of the classic design feel most essential to your work? That helps us figure out how to carry the best of it forward.

Hi @Hayley_Hughes

"What parts of the classic design feel most essential to your work? That helps us figure out how to carry the best of it forward." -  that has got to be the navigation on top and on the left.

I mean, i do have an issue with everything being only black and white on the right, but that takes a lot lower priority and i think i could live with that if i had too. Though as i said, i am still in favor of introducing at least 1 "hightlight color" to the right column not everything black and white.

Every Clothing online store is black and white, thats the association i had the first time i saw it, not that its a SaaS product.

^ +1

Unfortunately due to the current colors choices it seems like the HubSpot app results in the exact opposite of what is/should be intended.

The current/blue theme might not be as modern or "humanic", but it's clear way easier for the eyes as well as to the user that it's a SaaS.

The red one, unfortunately, insinuates more of a lifeless (because of the lack of colors) online shop rather than a SaaS.

Sorry for the harsh critique, but it's just so sad to see the a great software and a brand I'm feeling deeply connected with and wearing HubSpot/Sprocket tshirts proudly in public going in the completely opposite direction with such a design "iteration".

p.s.: I'll be happy to jump on a call to discuss my concerns and ideas for improvements

It's interesting that the designer that made the poster decided the theme should look different to the product...

I saw a video of the updated website page builder. Is this for all versions or just paid versions? I switched to the new theme, but I don't believe I see the latest updated builder. I am on a free version. I will appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi, I am not asking about pricing. I am asking about why I don't see updates in my free version. I hope this clarifies my question. Thank you.

I think you're relating to a beta that is currently rolled out to a few random portals.

It had a better/new way of managing sections in the page editor.

If this should be what you're refering to, than it's most likely gonna be released for every Hub version (free as well).

I don't have a timeline or more information about it

Thank you! I wanted to write an article about the new features for social posts with screenshots. I see some partners have created YouTube videos, which I may use for my article without screenshots. I am not yet in a position to join as a partner. I appreciate your help.

hi @deepapatel , as far as i can remember there was no new Page Builder released at Inbound. Apart from the new Assistents and Agents, the only "Builder" that i remember was the AI enhanced CPQ  Builder https://www.hubspot.de/products/commerce/cpq. However you need a paid plan for that.

If you can change the purple navigation border to another more neautral color  I think the other updates are fine.

  • Is this the final look or are more changes coming?
  • When is this going live?

If you have a few more color options that can be set on an admin level (not user level please) That would be great.

Also I just love your current color theme it is really beautiful and the new purple kinda reminds me of a popular chat tool branding.....

Appreciate your feedback, @MMusumeci! The dark magenta navigation is part of the new product look and feel we rolled out with our brand refresh at INBOUND. We wanted to build cohesion between our brand touchpoints and the global navigation of our product. The dark magenta is also one of the main colors in our new brand palette. What you’re seeing is not the end state, but the first step in a phased approach. So please stay tuned for more updates. We are just getting started—this is a simpler, more neutral foundation that allows us to add flexibility to add more significant improvements and other appearance options in the future.

For now, admins can’t select alternative navigation colors, but that’s feedback we’re hearing and exploring. Which areas of HubSpot would benefit most from admin-level customization for your team?

I have been keeping it on to make sure I was giving it a fair chance and when I logged in this morning it did not feel any better to me color wise.  I guess the color is what it is.

For the page layout outs can we go back to the classic style no spaces on the left and right hand sections looks a bit cleaner?

Hi @MMusumeci~ Thanks for sharing your experience with the new design. We know the new color palette feels different, and for some it can feel less engaging at first. The intent of the refresh was to simplify the interface, reduce distraction, and improve accessibility by increasing contrast in key areas like text and badges.

As for layout, we introduced more spacing on the sides to give the product a cleaner, more modern feel that is consistent. That said, we’ve heard from others who prefer the denser look of the classic layout. Your input helps us weigh where extra compactness adds clarity. We will definitely keep this in mind as we continue to build consistency and improve page layouts.

Could you please tell us which specific pages or workflows feel hardest to use with the extra spacing?

Thank you again for the engagement, we always appreciate hearing from our community.
