Ask Us Anything About Marketing Hub Updates @ INBOUND 2018

Hey Scott -

Alex is OOO today, so I'm here to help in his stead.

You're correct - the new editor is being rolled out in waves. If you'd like to try it out, we'd love your feedback. Send your hubID to me at ari@hubspot.com, and I'll hook you up.

Cheers,

Ari

The recent (but not too recent) change of the editor tool in the webpages has resulted in a box that stays hovering over the other toolbar when an image is clicked. If I want to add a link to an image, i have to basically just hope that the pop up that occurs when i click on an image doesn't appear over the link button in the toolbar.

I've made a recording of the issue. In the first part, i try to add it in the main module itself, but the toolbar with the link disappears when i click on it. Then when I try to edit it in the side module bar, it pops up over the toolbar, then deselects the image when I click on the toolbar to try and get it to show up. Frustrating - the only way at this point I can see to add the link when this happens is to write it in HTML, which is a pain, because then I have to go find the URL of the page in a separate tab, copy the url, and paste it back in.

Here's the recording: https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/399351/link-issue-.webm

Hey lcverner,

Thanks for including a video of the behavior you described! We have a new update to the image popup in beta that we can add to your account that will resolve what you were experiencing with the image popup covering the link icon in the toolbar. What's more, this new image insertion plugin will allow you to add links to images within the same popup that allows you to format the image. This feature will be out to everyone within the next two weeks, so I've gone ahead and added it to your portal today. Feel free to let me know if you have further questions on it!

Best,

Clare

it is slightly disappointing to see features such as the playbook locked out. Traditionally, enterprise-level features are directly related to increased use of a product/software. I believe such features should be included in the middle tier pricing model but should have limited use.

I believe in the professional plan in HubSpot for both Marketing & Sales such feature should have more of usage-based pricing approach rather than the current structure.

It would be great if similar features were considered as improvements to the HubSpot platform or additions for current users, rather than a price increase or not being included at all.

I've seen references to new email throttling capabilities. What exactly is now available that wasn't before / how do we use it?

Hi Karena,

The new feature folks have been talking about is Send Frequency Cap.  It is an addition to our Marketing Enterprise product and is in limited beta.  We expect it to fully released in November.

The Send Frequency Cap allows our users to set, on a porta-wide basis, a maximum number of emails contacts can recieve during a day, week, two week, or month period.  The features keeps a running count of the sum of batch, workflow, RSS, and blog updates during the selected time period.  Any attempt to send more of those four types will result in an email not being sent with a reason of "Reached Frequency Cap."

Users have the choice to allow sends to be sent to all contacts independent of the Send Frequency Cap status on a per email basis.

I hope this helps!

Replying to the "Send Frequency Cap" comment. Will you also take into account any lead that is part of a sequence? In addition to batch, rss, blog, etc

Thanks @TomMonaghan. Just to confirm -- the frequency cap functionality, once released, will only be available on HubSpot Enterprise plans. Correct?

Note: Please search for recent posts as HubSpot evolves to be the #1 CRM platform of choice world-wide.

Hope that helps.

Be well,
Frank

Ask Us Anything About Marketing Hub Updates @ INBOUND 2018

Hi all,

We already measure the number/amount of deals won with a marketing source. I would like know to measure the influence of marketing on sales deals (with a sales origin). For instance : when a deal is won, have a look to the contacts actions for each new customer-> attend to a specific event = 5% of the deal won + 2 ressources downladed = 5% of the deal won, so we could say the marketing influence the deal at 10%. I would like to do a list of actions with a % of influence (a kind of scoring, but the lead scoring is not a %). How can I do that with Hubspot? Any tips, good practices to measure influence and not only origins?

Thank you so much,

agirard

Hello!

Thanks for your question! Based on the description you provided, I think the closest thing to what you are looking for is an attribution report, which is available within Marketing Hub Enterprise. Using an attribution report, you can create a report that gives you the percentage of contacts that were assissted by an attribution object, such as a specific source, or a specific URL. Creating attribution reports is explained in depth within this knowledge doc.

Happy to explore this further!

Best,

Alex

Any thoughts on simplifying the GDPR settings?

They're over engineered aTM as far as we can tell.

Hi Ray -

Ari from the Product Marketing team at HubSpot. We appreciate your feedback. One of the big challenges with the GDPR is that it's inherently not simple --- it's almost 300 pages of legalese, and there's no specific checklist for compliance. Every business has to approach compliance in the way that makes the most sense for their specific context. With that in mind, we made the settings as simple as we could, while maintaining flexibility for every use case.

I'd be curious to hear more about your experience with the settings. If you could wave a magic wand and simplify your GDPR implementation in HubSpot, what would that look like?

Magic wand:

The current set up is too prescriptive. HS have made a common mistake of designing the system to drive compliance. This means it's too complex and prescriptive.

In our company, and doubtless countless other companies too, we have all of the information and criteria for legitimate use elsewhere because we need a company-wide approach that takes into account all of the systems we use.

This has been carefully considered and formulated on the basis of specific, specialist legal advice.

This means that we don't need all of the categories HS have defined.

What we do need is the consent option for prospects who give their consent to receive marketing information because there is no current alternative legal basis to process their data. HS provides that facility and we use it.

Of course, there are a multitude of use cases and preferences but ATM HS is a very blunt instrument to assist with our compliance.

Our GDPR compliance is not the responsibily of HubSpot (platform or company). It ours as Data Controller.

The magic wand will enable us to turn off HD GDPR features we don't need.

Yes, GDPR compliance is important and the regs seem fiendish but when you get down to it the essence is simple to comply with for any well run business.

Please refine HS so that we have tools we can use if needed to assist with GDPR compliance but not tie us up in knots.
