Google Ads rolled out Performance Max or PMax campaigns for short. Currently, Hubspot does not yet pull these in via Marketing > Ads. It is not clear to me whether Hubspot needs to do a development or Google Ads is not releasing this via API?
In any case, through that campaign Lead Submits happened in Google Ads. So under Marketing, I can't find these.
Two questions:
1. What is a good workaround to get those leads in Hubspot anyway? 2. What if I add those leads manually in Hubspot, how do I get them under the right source so that my cost per contact and others remain correct?
We have the same problem in our reports. The main utms are still tracked (source, medium and content for example) but the campaign and term are not tracked correctly. We have tried everything but on hubspot the tracking does not appear.
I recently left Google after 10 years working on their Ads/Automation products, and I can confirm that nearly ALL of Google's 2024 automation Engineering resources are being poured into PMax. This is Google's P0 for the forseeable future. HUBSPOT NEEDS TO SUPPORT THIS AD TYPE, OR THE GOOGLE ADS CONNECTOR FEATURES WILL SOON BECOME OBSOLETE!!!!
Yes. This. Please enable PMax ad tracking - add to the integration! Not having to create UTM codes for ads is probably the biggest hidden benefit - and competitive advantage vs other platforms - of using Hubspot for multi-channel marketing.
After talking to everyone I know at Hubspot, Google, digital ad agencies, etc, I got nowhere other than "yes we know this is a problem." Independently, I realized that you can add UTM codes to my performance max campaigns. This is working? I can now track new contacts and revenue by UTM campaign and see attribution in HubSpot. It seems a little too good to be true, and I'm wondering what I'm missing. Has anyone else tried this?
This is only a small answer to the question. Because the leads are not coming under Ads and the right channels, campaigns or ad groups. So the attribution is completely wrong. There is also no ROI calculation this way.
ya that's absolutely right. it's not a solution--its a workaround to understand contact and customer counts that can be attributed to a PMAX campaign. You can update these lists and reports to first touch but you'll have to manually attribute revenue with your own weighting out of system (I use search campaign averages from Hubspot Ads). We implemented this workaround as a way to validate (or invalidate) the efficacy of PMax campaigns bc Google conversion numbers were so much higher than Search campaigns. It does not provide any journey or revenue insights--which is why many of us pay the $$$ for Hubspot. Summary: Hubspot still needs to address this problem.
@PViaene The issue is that Google has not issued an API for the PMax ad type at this time. There is nothing that HubSpot can do in the way of development for its ads tool untill Google releases an API. So, we should all reach out to them and ask for an API. 😉
- Trevor If my post solves your problem, please accept it as a solution.
The only one at Google I get stuck with is a trained rep who can mean little or nothing. I am trying all means 🙂 My hope is that Hubspot can put more pressure on. They will surely have better contacts than a robotic rep.
We tried this solution, but the number of conversions in HubSpot is different from the one you find in G Ads. We are going to implement a new campaign with the same solution to check if we made any error in the first one.
I wonder how many years this request will go unanswered. I want PMax tracking as well. Lets see if you can do better than the 3 years without action despite several upvotes of some of the other requests I have participated in. I suspect Hubspot is tone deaf if there is no immediate way it increases their revenue.
I spent too long trying to work out a solution with the support team only to find out that it was not supported in any meaningful way and there is no timeline for when that will occur.
They are not aware of the importance of performance max campaigns. We canʻt properly track, build and report from our data so we can utilize the services Google is pushing on all of us.
We need to get a ton of upvotes and bring Pmax needs to their attention. I donʻt think they are aware of how many others are impacted. I was told to make a post and get some upvotes because they could not refer any helpful info to me for work arounds.
Hubspot is really slow on catching the what's hyping. I'm not surprised there is nothing on hubspot end. I'm still manually getting the leads instead of using zapier.
