We are running Ads campaigns on Meta to receive messages. We started to receiving the inquiries for a few days. The issue here is that HubSpot doesn't describe any ads related source in the system although Meta shows the ads ID where those message came from.
We enable auto-tracking and lead syncing on HubSpot. We normally receive the leads in HubSpot for the campaigns run with a lead form.
I understand that HubSpot cannot be track if a contact uses ad-blocker or something. But it is a bit strange not showing all the contacts that came from ads and then to Messenger.
HubSpot's lead tracking capabilities are primarily designed for lead form submissions rather than Messenger interactions. This is why you're experiencing better results with lead form campaigns. The integration between HubSpot and Meta is not optimized for tracking Messenger conversations initiated through ads, which leads to these attribution gaps.
While ad blockers can indeed interfere with tracking, as you mentioned, this is likely not the primary issue in your case. The problem more likely stems from limitations in how HubSpot's tracking pixel interacts with Messenger-based leads. The pixel may not fire correctly for these interactions, resulting in incomplete attribution data (see here for more information).

1. You might consider manually updating the lead source for contacts who come through Messenger ads. This can be done by creating a custom property in HubSpot for "Ad Source" and updating it based on your Meta Ads data. 2. I'd recommend to use Facebook Lead Ads instead of Messenger ads if possible, since these integrate more seamlessly with HubSpot's lead syncing feature and could provide better tracking results. Implementing UTM parameters in your ad URLs can also help track the source of traffic more accurately, providing some level of attribution even if it's not as seamless as lead form tracking.
3. For a more comprehensive solution, you might watch out for third-party tools designed to bridge the gap between Messenger ads and CRM systems like HubSpot. As for now, I'm not aware of any, but as we all know HubSpot regularly updates its integrations so it's possible that future updates may improve tracking for Messenger ad interactions. If you need an urgent solution, there's also the possibility to build a custom solution that will solve your attribution issues.
