We do not have a developer in house and we are struggling with how to implement this ourselves as Google have implied that it should be easy. We are not using the tag manager option.
Has anyone implmeneted this sucessfully and are you able to provide and clear insights on how to do this?
I spoke to a Google Ads Implementation Specialist yesterday. He confirmed that the ONLY way to setup Enhanced Conversions is to have form fields passed as URL Parameters to the 'thank you' page like this: https://www.mywebsite.com/thanks?email=john@gmail.com
If I had to guess, and it's a total guess, I'd say Hubspot will get this feature setup in roughly 6 months time. Might be worth waiting depending on your situation.
Because I have set up my conversion in HubSpot. So I can get value of the conversionsend back to Google AdWords. If I need to add another technical aspect (Enhanced conversion tracking) I don't think that is duable outsite of HubSpot.
HubSpot support just told me that adding a delay to the 'thank you' page loading is probably not the best solution. It can take 30 seconds or more for the Personalization data to be made available.
Just had an idea. I think'd we all simply like to be able to add a Personalization Token to the "thank you" page to solve this. Problem, we all know, is that HubSpot needs a few seconds to process the data before a Personalization Token can be used. What if we changed our form to "display an inline thank you message" and in there we could put javascript that would redirect the user to the "thank you" page after 5 seconds.
Just an FYI, I'm going to be speaking to a Google Ads tagging specialist about this. My hunch is that Google will soon make it easier to implement Enhanced Conversions and we might be best to just wait a couple months for them to figure it out. There's already a Zapier integration to "Add customers to a customer list in Google Ads" so I would think we'll soon see a Zapier integration for Enhanced Conversions. I'll try to find out if that is on their roadmap.
thanks for the advice we thought we found a solution in the data layer but as yet not confirmed if it is working. Its good to know others are having the same issues hopefully HS and Google can find the workable solution. Will keep trying and share any updates we have from our side,
My team is in the same boat using the HubSpot integration with WordPress. We use HubSpot forms on a WordPress site with WordPress Thank You pages, and our Google Rep wants us to add form field data on the Thank You pages in addition to creating the GTM conversion tag (we used a non-GTM conversion tag prior). Not sure what our options are - open to moving our Thank You pages to HubSpot if that helps things along - but seeing some of the other replies here it looks like that may not be viable at this time.
I thought I found a workable solution yesterday (3/15) by including fields collected from the form (email, company name, etc) within the copy on the Thank You page, using the personalization tokens.
It worked well for contacts that already had been established within our database. The personalization torkens worked, and my Google team said that would work!
However, for brand new contacts that moved through the form, it appears HubSpot couldn't process their data quick enough to include the personalization tokens within the Thank You page. Therefore, back to square one. I informed the Google team and my rep said several other clients were encountering the exact same issue.
I hope to receive some resolution from Google on this soon. When I do, I will provide an update on this thread.
I still think this would be best implemented by HubSpot using Google's Ads API, as they're already capturing the fields necessary to send to Google for EC, and using the API to manage Google ads within HubSpot.
HubSpot already uses Google's Ads API to bring in and manage ads from HubSpot. It would be a big advantage if Enhanced Conversions data could be collected in HubSpot, and it makes sense to me as a feature as Enhanced Conversions can be passed through the Google Ads API. HubSpot forms already can collect the information necessary to send to Google to work with EC, so this integration would remove the need to isolate customer data by JS or CSS or any other frontend method.
I also want to do this. I will let you know if I find a solution. If there's a way to display the lead's information (name, phone, email) on the "thanks" page then the rest is easy.
