@thinedgemkt Thank you for reaching out and for trying out Dan's first steps. This is definitely strange. I wonder, when you hover your mouse on the greyed out button, do you have any messaging popping up?
Can you confirm the screenshot you shared is what you get after clicking on Settings > Marketing > Ads > Connect Account?
Bummer. Not knowing all the details on your Google side (and even HubSpot), I'm at a loss at why it's grayed out. If I can find any additional information I'll post it here.

Hi @thinedgemkt. Do you have access to the ads account as a administrator with the right permissions? And are you signed into the right Google account in your browser?
Also, a couple quick tips:
Turn any ad blockers off and reconnect
Open HubSpot & Google in an incognito window and then reconnect
