Add conversion tag to thank you page

SOLVE

Hi all,

I have been following these instructions https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/cos-general/where-should-i-add-my-global-site-tag...

In those instructions, it says "In the dashboard, hover over the name of your page and click EditThe event snippet should be added to the final page of your offer, which is usually your thank you page."

That's sort of confusing because it seems to direct me to edit the Landing Page itself. I don't understand how to add the event snippet to the thank you page. If I add the snippet to landing page, that will register a conversion in Google Ads every time someone clicks on the ad and loads the landing page. Or maybe I am just misunderstanding.

Thanks

Add conversion tag to thank you page

Hi @PELI

This is suggesting that you set up a separate thank you landing page which your form on your offer page will redirect to once submitted. So your offer could be mysite.com/offer and the offer thank you page is mysite.com/offer-thanks.

As such you will follow the instructions in https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/cos-general/where-should-i-add-my-global-site-tag... and only add the conversion tag to the additional code snippets area of your thank you landing page.

No, @PELI. You're not misunderstanding at all.

Your landing pages (LPs) are very separate entities than your thank you pages (TYPs). Your TYP is the final unique page used to deliver each unique content offer.

In HubSpot, you may build these TYPs using either the Landing Pages tool OR Website Pages tool (your choice). The terminology can get confusing, but the page's intention should be pretty clear -- i.e., a TYP is a TYP no matter what tool you use to build it.

Also, The Google Adwords global site tag is very different from the Google Ads event snippet. They work together, but each unique Google Ads event snippet is what uniquely identifies the conversion event on each unique TYP. (very important)

"The Google Adwords global site tag should be placed in the <head> section of all your pages, while the event snippet should be added to the <head> section on the conversion page itself. "

Thanks, Matthew. This makes much more sense now. They should probably update those instructions to be a bit more descpriptive.
