Start for free and scale with five users?

SOLVE

Could you please advise on how to keep one user (administrator) on a paid plan while keeping others on the free plan? According to the documentation, this should be possible. However, after purchasing the Starter plan for one user, I'm now faced with the option to switch the other users to view-only mode, which would result in losing even the functionality of the free plan.

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding these lines: 'Start for free and scale with five users included at the Free tier and the introduction of a single seat type—the Core Seat—at Starter. Now, it’s easier than ever to grow your business with HubSpot.'

How does this work?

Start for free and scale with five users?

SOLVE

Hi @monolithed I agree that the messaging is confusing, especially the "Start for free and scale with five users.." this means that a free account is limited to 5 users. Once you need more than 5, you'd have to upgrade to Starter and all users would be paid users.

For "single seat type" what this means is that there is only one type of seat in the Starter tier, a Core Seat, whereas once you get to Pro and Enterprise, there are core seats for most hubs, but there are Sales Seats and Service Seats to distinguish the sales/service users from the rest of the team.

There isn't a way to keep free users in combination with a Starter subscription, everyone who has access to your account would need a paid user for Starter. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but hopefully you can justify the starter subscription for your full team - it truly is the best way to grow with HubSpot.

It would be great if the HubSpot team could correct the description, as you noticed, it is misleading. I hope that with the transition to the next plan, I won't have to raise it with everyone.
