We are trying to set up our Hubspot accounts and we ran into an issue with SMTP authorization using a custom email server.
The exact error we get from our email provider is this:
You have been referred to this page because you have tried to use our SMTP server to send emails without authorisation (without providing login details). We provide an SMTP server to all users of our website hosting services, but you must enable the SMTP authorisation feature in your mail program to send mail. All SMTP parameters (server address, login name, password) are the same as those of your email account.
We are sure the credentials supplied when connecting our inboxes are correct, but we run into this issue during SMTP test mail sending.
The same credentials work for other email apps. Has anyone ran into this issue?
Thank you for following up @herq! This has been marked as a solution to let others know of this special character behavior in passwords.
I encourage you to consider creating a post on our Ideas Forum here discussing the behavior. Our product team can review it from there!

Hi @herq! Welcome to the Community-- happy to have you here 😊
Could you clarify what method you used to connect your email to HubSpot and what type of emails you are sending? Is this for Marketing emails?
Additionally, providing any relevant screenshots of the email configuration and error will be helpful.
These details will help us better troubleshoot the error!
Best, Kennedy
