Some of our team are currently experiencing issues when removing contacts from a list or logging activity on a contact from the list on a seperate tab. If they remove someone from the list, the list automatically refreshes and moves to the contact at the top so they lose their place in the list. The same thing happens when they open a contact on the list in a new a tab and go back to the original list - it moves the list back to the top.
Someone was experiencing a similar issue yesterday and I left a suggestion there that I think might be helpful for you as well.
I'm not entirely sure why this is happening with the list functionality, but using a contact view has some additional benefits and that same behavior does not happen.
I hope this helps!

@cmdor I'm not sure if I have the full context of what you're doing but it sounds like you're manually removing and adding contacts to lists.
After using HubSpot for a decade: I wouldn't recommend doing that.
Whatever you're doing sounds like filtered views are better suited for that. Instead of manually adding and removing contacts, I recommend you update property values on those records. By updating those records, and setting the filters in the view accordingly, the filters will either pull in or not show contacts in that view.
One of the main reasons I recommend this is that deleting a list (which is easily done) would delete all of your work. Deleting a filtered view, after having updated the records, will not be an issue. You can simply recreate the view and you can also use the updated values to do a lot of other stuff (workflow enrollment, report creation etc).
(Also, you're not having issues like the one you explained.)
Let me know if I should elaborate 🙂

That is helpful - thanks very much. The only issue now is when we want to remove someone from the static list we aren't able to do that in the contact view. Might just be a case of writing down names to remove once done.

Are you referring to the list tool or to filtered views? What exactly are the filter criteria of your view? It sounds like there may be a filter / sorting for "Last modified date" or "Last contacted" which might lead to the behavior you're experiencing.
If you can share a screenshot of the filters and sorting, I can elaborate.
Best regards
