Is there an explicit breakdown of the new Seats anywhere?

SOLVE

Hey folks,

We just got migrated to the new Seat functionality yesterday. Unfortunately, it's now blown up my week trying to reconfigure and reassign our teams so they can still function.

While I'm pretty sure that we'll end up on the wrong end of a seat cost bump here, I'd just like to get some clarity on what these "new" View Only and Core seats can (and can't) do.

Ideally, this would be something like this so we can work out what we actually need:

Incidentally, I've tried to get more information from the website on what we're able to do with each seat type, but the link (highlighted) is dead:

(It looks like it wasn't updated to point to a public page, and instead links to a really long staging page: https://742851.hubspotpreview-na1.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog?_gl=1*u7lvcj*_gcl_au*MTYzNTM1NDU3Ny4xNzQ3NjUwNDAy*FPAU*MTYzNTM1NDU3Ny4xNzQ3NjUwNDAy*_ga*NDczMDEyNzQwLjE3NDc2MzkxMDU.*_ga_LXTM6CQ0XK*czE3NDc3MzkzNTIkbzYkZzAkdDE3NDc3MzkzNTgkajU0JGwwJGgwJGRHWVZjOXJaa1VWWnZzeVFwNi1tN25paDRHOGZLSnY3by1n*_fplc*bGRwWGhJeEglMkYzam5scFBKZFJUdmhJZSUyQiUyRlBwb0RBaWlBcW9iNU41SWtpYWNVNTU4OHZrRkNQNmJtcGxtMlFDSlIxWjRHcXZiMXFRbDRXT1hzWXp4VkQxYzgwSHFFVVVnVFA2JTJCU3ZMTWhISGFtNUJhdXg1WmdIZ3Q4aEolMkYlMkZRJTNEJTNE#Sales

Is there an explicit breakdown of the new Seats anywhere?

SOLVE

@Adam_W I agree, it's confusing and difficult to explain to clients. It's not perfect, but a good rule of thumb is:

  • Core Seat = Marketing Team, IT, Super Admin
  • View Only = Leadership who just wants to see reports
  • Sales or Service Seat = Client-facing roles

We use this worksheet to help explain the differences in seats and to map existing/future users to the correct seat, team, and permissions:

Hi @Adam_W ,

Core seats will help the user access to tools based on your Hub plan you have purchased like editing emails, creating workflows.
View only seats will help the user access to view but not edit most assets.
The best way here is use core seats for active users and View only for those who just needs visibility.

Thanks for the quick reply, @Jigar_Thakker.

Unfortunately, those pages don't really add any clarity to what's available/possible for each user type. Additionally, we don't just have View Only and Core, but also our Sales Enterprise and Service Pro seats.

I think HubSpot could do a lot better here in terms of clarifying what each user can and cannot do.
