Importing Contacts

I have just signed up and do to such a simple basic task as importing contact has become a nightmare. Is it possible to import any excel list or ONLY HubSpot formatted list?

Importing Contacts

Hi @danhaidri just to complement the previous answer. You will be able to import through a spreadsheet any type of object into HS - contacts, companies, deals, tickets and products. All objects have an ID inside HS to be able to identify them and match them properly with other objects. Specifically for contacts we use 2 - the email address and the contact ID. Contact ID is assigned when the contact is created inside HS. You can't modify it. It could be useful in the future is you want to update existing contacts for example. For new contact imports email address is the identifier and for companies is domain. Preparing the file for importing appropiately is always key. HS will show you the properties that are matching vs the columns in the Excel before the process is completed so you will be able to doublecheck. I suggest checking these 2 additional resources:

Importing Contacts

Hi @danhaidri! It is very possible to import an Excel list, I do it several times a week!

But you MUST be sure that HubSpot already has all the fields that have in your Excel. So if you have the columns first name, email, phone number, country, and favorite color in you Excel, your HubSpot must also have those fields so you can map your data correctly.

Here is a KBA about setting up your Excel for import.

Good luck!

Emma
