How can I categorize my contacts?

SOLVE

Hi,

I'm new to Hubspot and just imported my contacts to the free CMS. My contacts are divided into 4 categories (marketing managers, sales managers, HR managers, etc.) and I don't know how to import the category, i.e. how the category can be added to the contact info.
My categories are basically personas, but at this point I simply want to be able to filter my contact list by this category and send them the appropriate newsletters. 
How can I do this?

Hi @KathrinLS

 

Did you already import that segmentation data into HubSpot along with the contacts?

 

If not, either add them as personas (they would seem to fit here) or create a custom contact property with those values as options, and then reimport the data mapping the category to the property in HubSpot. 


Once that is done, you can easily create views or lists of contact with each category to power your future marketing to them.

Thanks Phil, 

 

I created a contact property and re-imported the CSV file with the data for the property.
My actual problem was that I had to make this property visible in the contact overview...
