force ui update on object update via api

hi

i remember a few years ago for a brief moment...
whenever we updated a note (or other engagements) via the rest api... the change would automatically reflect on any ui with that object open.

then some time later that changed and object did not update automatically.

so the question is..
is there any way for us to currently achive this?

any help appreciated.
