calculation_equation Field Type not valid for POST/PATCH

We have run into a problem while integrating the Hubspot custom objects API into our app. When a property for a custom object is created through the Hubspot UI with the field type calculation_equation, we don't receive any errors. However, when we try to make a property with this field type through the API endpoint, or if we try to update a property with this field type through a PATCH, we get an error saying the field type calculation_equation could not be used.

Is this a bug? Or are we doing something wrong?

Currently, these field types are not available to be set via the API

Ohh wow. Is this the case for all object types? Contacts, Deals, Etc. 

Or is it just a custom object that has this limitation?
