Tracking video views in a generated modal

TLDR; How can I get a video view to be tracked when the video embed code doesn't load with the page?

Hi all,

I have a page of video thumbnails with a single modal popup window. Each video thumbnail, when clicked, opens the modal popup window and inserts a video into the modal.  The videos and thumbnails are hosted on HubSpot in a HubDB.

I'm trying to track the views of the individual videos, however, only the views of a video that is outside of the modal have been tracked. The video names do all appear in the Video Views section of the Performance page for the page, but there are no views tracked.

I have tried using the

  _hsq.push(['refreshPageHandlers']);

method after the video has loaded, and I see it apply to the _hsq array through the console when I load a new video, but still no views are tracked.

Have I missed something? How can I get a video view to track when the video embed code doesn't load with the page?
