Sending an email into a deal with API

I'm trying to transfer some deals from another system into hubspot. At the moment I have a bunch of Gmail thread IDs which I would like to put into a deal in hubspot by the API.

I have just created the deal and I have the ID. What's the next step? I'm using self hosted n8n to do this.

I'm using n8n for automation zan I cannot find any way using API 2 put an email into a deal

I can see that we can use Forward emails :. Emails forwarded to this address will be attached to any matching contacts. If no contact is found, a new one will be created.

I also have the Google Contacts synchronisation so in most cases the contacts will exist. However if an email is linked to a contact then how do I link it to a deal? I may have several deals with a contact over the years.

I have worked out how to otherwise create deals based on my old CRM and copy important things like dates and amounts but I cannot get the conversation record across which makes it almost useless.
