Send multiple single-send emails through 1 API call?

Hey there devs!

We've been using the single-send email API for individually triggered emails based on our customers lifecycle on our main site.  We want to do a bulk email send to our clients, related to client retention and education, but we need to add information to the email that isn't readily available on Hubspot contacts.  

Normally, the single-send email API seems like it would work here (create custom variables on our system, form an email body, pass it along through the API to a template). However, I'm concerned about sending thousands of API calls for this.

Is there a way to send

We also need this for order updates from our CMS system. The CMS is updated every 30 minutes via a bulk XML file that gets turned into a single API call. Bulk order shipped, updated, cancelled emails would benefit greatly from a feature like this.
