New Marketing Event object and APIs in Public Beta

We are launching a public beta of a new standard object called the marketing events object and an available API. This is a new standard object that will be available for users to populate with the API and with the Eventbrite or GoToWebinar apps.

How does it work?

To opt-in to the new marketing events object, go to contacts and select the “contacts” dropdown. From there select “Marketing events”.

You'll receive a popup asking if you would like to “Add Marketing Events” to your portal. Only Super Admins can add the marketing events object to a portal.

Then, select the "Add marketing events" option in the popup, where you’ll see an index of all marketing events objects.

Records can be created from either the marketing events API or the Eventbrite or GoToWebinar apps.

I agree with @jmacandrews, being able to add events manually vs strictly using an integration would be extremely helpful. Not all organizations are able to build integrations from the ground up and/or afford to pay for the integration to be developed.

It would also be nice to see these as something that can be attached to a campaign.

This looks like a nice new feature. We use the event app WebinarGeek integrated with HubSpot, one of the six webinar apps in the HubSpot App Marketplace. I've noticed this app is not one of the standard app options to connect with. Will you be adding those aswel in the near future?

Is there any way we can add events manually versus using an events integration? The events we do are typically hosted outside of our organization, but it would still be helpful to track these...

I'm super excited about this. We've had to build out custom properties to keep track of which webinars and events people had registered for and attended in the past, and it's quite tedious. If we can begin to just treat these as offline marketing events that we can run attribution and reporting against, that will be fantastic. Next step should be a setting on the card scanner app where you can say you're "at an event" for a set amount of time, and anyone you meet there will get auto-attributed.

It seems like HubSpot is relatively slow on this one. Would you mind sharing how you went about building out custom properties for manually and /or auto created events? Also, did you have to build a new app for every new event? 😥
